While the Blazer nameplate was used way back in ‘69, the model that we know today started in 2019. When it hit the roads, it came in L, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trims. While some of these trims didn’t last long, they are available on the used market.
This model has also seen a handful of engines, two being available right from the start, with one coming in 2020. The two engines that were available on 2019 models are the 2.5L I4, and the 3.6L V6. Of these two engines, the V6 produces substantially more power, at 305 horsepower, and 269 lb-ft of torque. When comparing this to the 2.5L I4’s engine that produces 193 horsepower, and 188 lb-ft of torque.
When 2020 came around, so did the 2.0L turbocharged I4. This engine is a nice middleground for the two, producing 231 horsepower. Of these engines, the 2.0L I4 is the most efficient one, coming with an EPA rated 25 MPG combined. If you’re wanting something that blends power, and fuel economy, then this is the one that you want to look for.
Some standard features that you can find across all trims are an 8-inch touch screen that comes with phone integration, a keyless entry with keyless access and push-button start, and OnStar with 4G wifi capabilities. While these next few features aren’t standard, there is a chance that you can find them on used Blazers. These features include remote start, a Bose audio system, GPS navigation, a power sunroof, heated and ventilated front bucket seats, and even a power tailgate.
For the 2021 models, the Blazer saw the optional towing package called the VR2 Trailering Package become available. If you find a model that is equipped with this package, it will bump the towing capacity up to 4,500-pounds.
If you find a model from 2022, and newer, they will not come with the 2.5L I4, as it was discontinued after 2021. While there are better options, if you were someone who liked this engine, then you’ll want something from before this model year.
The biggest changes happened in 2023 thanks to the model seeing a facelift. With this, the entire lineup saw a larger 10-inch infotainment screen join the family. For upper trims, such as the RS, and the Premier, you can find a QI wireless charger as a standard feature.
The 2, and 3LT trims also saw some love from this facelift, making the adaptive cruise control as an available feature, this also adds Chevy Safety Assist as a standard feature. CSA comes with automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, automatic high beams, as well as lane departure warning.
