Moving on to a generation that you will likely find, the third generation is a benchmark for generations to come. This generation came with 4 trims, the L, LS, LT, and Premier trims. Of these trims, there were three engines to pick from, one of which being a diesel option.
The engine that carries over as mentioned earlier is the 1.5L I4, and comes with an EPA rated 28 MPG combined, but it only produces 170 horsepower. While this isn’t a powerful engine, it is very efficient, highlighting the reason that it got carried over.
For the other two engines that were available, there’s the 2.0L I4 that is the other gasoline engine. While this engine is more powerful at 252 horsepower, it didn’t get carried over because it does come with a worse fuel efficiency at 25 MPG combined.
The last of the engines is a diesel option, and if this is your thing, then you’re in luck. This engine comes with an EPA rated 32 MPG combined, and while this is more than the other two, being that this is diesel, it wasn’t sought after by too many people, but being that we’re looking at used models, you can still find some floating around.
Some features that you can find from this generation are a standard 7-inch infotainment screen, with an 8-inch screen being optional, as well as a panoramic sunroof. If you’re interested in higher-end features, you can look for heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power liftgate, rear cross-traffic alert, and remote start on the RS trim that joined the family in 2022.
