Much like the other generations, this one came available in 2- and 4-door variants. It is also available in three different 4WD systems. These are the Command-Trac, Selec-Trac, and Rock-Trac. This generation is designed to be more comfortable than previous ones, thanks to the recirculating ball steering with electric power assistance.
Both variants of the Wrangler are longer than the generation before. The 2-door variant is 2.5 inches longer, while the 4-door is 3.5 inches longer.
This generation also comes powered by several engines. The standard engine is the 3.6L V6, producing 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
A 2.0L turbocharged I4 is available for all trims and has slightly more torque than the standard engine. The power for this engine is 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
A diesel option is also available. This was the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 Turbodiesel. It comes with 260 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.
The last combustion engine option is a 6.4L Hemi V8 that was equipped to the Rubicon trim that debuted in 2021. This engine produces 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
If you're looking for the best mileage out of these, then the diesel option is your best bet. This comes with an EPA rating of 25 MPG combined, able to go 538 miles in total.
Being that there’s a ton of trims to pick from, Jeep added different infotainment systems to the lineup. Coming in three sizes, the Sport and Sport S receive the smallest 5-inch screen. Moving up to a 7-inch screen is the Sahara and the Rubicon. Both of these come with phone connectivity. If you want the biggest screen, which is 8.4 inches, then you’ll need an upscale Sahara or Rubicon trim.
No matter the infotainment system, all of them are equipped with a rearview backup camera, making it easier and safer to reverse.
For the rest of the interior, the Sport and Sport S come with standard cloth seating. But if you want something slightly more comfortable, then you can look for a Sahara and Rubicon, as they come with premium cloth seating.
Much like the infotainment system, you can opt for a MOAB or a Rubicon 392. This comes with leather-trimmed seating surfaces, making them the most comfortable, and gives an elegant finish.
No matter the trim you find, it could be equipped with heated seats, and up here in New Jersey, we think that is a must-have. Some models will also be equipped with a heated steering wheel, making it even better.
When the 2024 models came out, so did a refresh. This streamlined the lineup, giving all trims access to a 12-inch screen, which comes with wireless phone connectivity.
Some new optional features joined the lineup. These include the built-in off-road trail guide, GPS navigation, and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system that comes with a weatherproof subwoofer.
This year also saw the removal of the diesel engine, making the most efficient option going forward the 2.0L I4, getting 21 MPG combined, having a max range of 368 miles.
